TAS Interruption Update: ICANN confirms window to reopen next week

18th May 2012

Melbourne, Australia – 18th May 2012 – ICANN released a new statement today to confirm its intent to progress with the reopening of the new Top-Level Domain Application System (TAS) next week on 22 May.

In the update, ICANN said it plans to reopen the TAS at 19:00 GMT/UTC on 22 May and has scheduled to close the TAS at 23:59 GMT/UTC on 30 May 2012.

This latest statement follows a technical glitch identified by ICANN on 12 April 2012. ICANN has been working to resolve the issue and inform those affected for the past month.

Today, ICANN published the following update to that process:

Statement by Akram Atallah, COO

As we announced last week, ICANN is targeting 22 May 2012 as the reopening date for the TLD Application System, or TAS. Specifically, we are targeting 19:00 GMT/UTC on 22 May for the reopening.

When we took the system offline on 12 April, just over twelve hours remained in the application window. We anticipate keeping TAS open for eight full days to allow users to review their applications and complete any remaining activities. We expect to close TAS at 23:59 GMT/UTC on 30 May 2012.

We appreciate the community's continued interest and feedback on the TAS interruption.

ARI Registry Services will continue to inform clients of developments and will address all related enquiries as a matter of priority.
